Class Participation
Students will receive 5 points per day for participation in daily class/rehearsal.  The progress report grade will be based on the total possible points for that grading period.  There will also be 25 bonus points available every quarter earned by exemplary rehearsal behavior and/or preparedness.

Areas for points include:
Be on time and in chair when rehearsal begins.
No gum, candy, food or drink (water bottles are acceptable)
Be prepared--have music and pencil
Be focused and actively participate in rehearsal
Demonstrate good singing posture

Excused absence--student will have opportunity to make up the points.  Students must make arrangements with Mrs. Morin. 

Unexcused absence--zero for that day--no make-up opportunity.

Performance/Special Rehearsals
Each performance event will be worth 100 points. 

Areas for points include:
Preparedness (music is fully/confidently memorized)
Focus during performance (response to director, not distracted)
Concert behavior during performance and as an audience member
Expression (appropriate to each individual piece--effort to interpret beyond singing notes)

Excused absences include personal illness and death in the family.  No deductions will be made for excused absences if a written excuse from a parent is received (before performance, if possible) and a makeup assignment is completed.

Please note:  Excused absences are very limited to extreme and emergent situations.  Social or other activities and failure to notify employer or coach of rehearsal/concert date are NOT excused.

A '70' will be assigned to any student with an unexcused absence that completes make up work.
A '90' will be assigned to any student with an excused absence and no make up work.
A '0' will be assigned to any student with an unexcused absence or arrives without proper performance attire.  No make up work.

Quizzes/Singing Tests
Students will be awarded points appropriate to each assignment. 

Assignments may include:
Sing part within a small ensemble or section (this will be after a preparation/memorization deadline has passed)

Turn in music to be checked for proper rehearsal markings (always have a pencil!)

Occasional quiz over fundamentals of music covered in class.
